Ah, Spain…a definite must-see if you’re looking to travel in Europe. From soaking up the sun in the mild Mediterranean climate to devouring scrumptious tapas and sangria, Spain is on many a bucket list and offers travelers so much. The beauty of Spain is that you can view windmills and castles hundreds of years old in towns such as Toledo and Granada, and yet enjoy the modern metropolitan areas of cities such as Madrid and Barcelona. Spain has such a mix of vistas, activities, shopping, and food that will be sure to please any avid traveler.
One of our travel advisors, Michelle, travelled to Spain just last week and was extremely impressed by what she experienced. She was shown Virtuoso properties as well as popular tourist destinations using private guides and drivers. She attended a cooking class in which she made gazpacho, the famous cold-tomato soup of Spain. She chopped up vegetables to add brightness and crunch to the delicious tomato base of this soup. She also made succulent pork tenderloin topped with olive tapenade for her main course, and a mouth-watering crema catalana for desert, the Spanish version of crème brulee.
Michelle also toured the famous La Sagrada Familia – the church to see in Barcelona. It is gorgeous – the outside is garnished in intricate details, and the inside has astonishing stained glass windows that glow the colors of the rainbow when lit up by sunlight. She loved touring this majestic church and afterwards relaxing during evening hours in the regal Barcelona Artes (a Ritz Carlton hotel) in Barcelona. She suggests that this hotel is perfect for family travel, as it has a pool, is located near the ocean, and has a Kids Club. Overall, Spain offers such a unique opportunity to explore the old and the new, and we can create customized itineraries such as the one Michelle travelled on to make the most of your travels and explore hands-on what Spain has to offer.
