Cruise and World Travel’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

On September 14, Cruise and World Travel celebrated the agency’s 25th anniversary at the Inn at Longshore in Westport. Attendees were welcomed by Cruise and World Travel’s founder Nancy Yale, followed by special guest speaker Jeremy Lindblad. As Director of Global Business Development for Lindblad Expeditions, Lindblad spoke of the transformational power of travel. The waterfront ballroom held 150 clients and 25 vendors, who were invited to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in gratitude for their loyalty to the agency over the years. Vendors included Seabourn Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Classic Vacations, and many more dedicated partners. Among…

Turks and Caicos – The Best of the Caribbean

Nancy recently travelled to Turks & Caicos (pictured above), which is one of the brightest gems in all of the Caribbean. Grace Bay is one of the most stunning stretches of beach that one could ever hope to find, with oceans crystal clear as far as the eye can see. There are fantastic properties on these islands, particularly within the Grace Bay beach area in the Providenciales, colloquially referred to as “Provo”. Nancy visited quite a few properties, and came back with raving reviews of The Grace Bay Resort, which is a 5 star property that has a separate section…

Amazing Africa

Lydia just returned from her very first trip to South Africa and Zambia! She absolutely loved everything about her trip – from the luxurious accommodations, which allow you to see beautiful animals in their natural habitat at your doorstep, to multicultural dining options, and more. Africa is a great destination for honeymooners, families, and friends alike. Lydia’s favorite memory was seeing the…

Incredible Iceland

Iceland: the hottest new destination. Not really hot though! The hottest it gets is in July – their summer was an average of 58 degrees when I went on a Windstar cruise on the Star Legend two weeks ago. Windstar does 7 night itineraries during the month of July with a round trip Reykjavik itinerary. Cruising aboard the Star Legend was a great way to see the island. This wonderful gem in the middle of the Atlantic is close to the states, a quick 5 hour plane ride…

Travel Agents are Swamped with New Business!

A recent survey reveals some interesting facts about the increase in the general publics’ use of travel agents  – particularly notable in the Millennials’ age group. A staggering 34% of Millennials said that they have used a travel agent to book at least on vacation in the last year, according to MMGY’s annual survey. (this is a 20% increase from last year) How interesting that Millennials, the first generation to grow up with the Internet at their fingertips – who innately have the ability to Google destinations and process their credit cards in mere seconds – are representing such a…

Ireland, Germany, and Austria – Beautiful European Gems

Our administrative assistant, Christina, recently returned from a trip where she toured Ireland, Germany, and Austria. She especially loved the outskirts of Dublin, where she went on a day tour called the “Wild Wicklow.” On this tour, she viewed the spectacular Lough Tay lake (pictured above), wild heather and boglands, and experienced a traditional Irish pup lunch. In Dublin city itself, she experienced the centennial of the 1916 Easter Rising by visiting the GPO Witness History Museum right in the Dublin City Center. This brand new and interactive museum…

Spectacular Sri Lanka

I just returned home from the beautiful Sri Lanka. A full two weeks there allow me to wholly recommend this majestic country. Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is a tiny island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean. It is a land of rainforest, wildlife and endless beaches. Its ancient Buddhist ruins are dotted throughout the country including the 5th-centurycitadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes, and the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Its flavorful cuisine and friendly people make this a wonderful destination for both history…
