Just last week, Nancy Yale, president of Cruise & World Travel, visited Jamaica with her extended family. She stayed at Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay (pictured above and below) and found the resort extremely family-friendly. She stayed in a 7-bedroom villa – perfect for a family reunion. Travelers of all ages can find equal enjoyment and relaxation within this beautiful resort. There is a private pool and a full-time staff with a cook, butler, and maid – you don’t need to lift a finger as you soak up the sun.

If you want some adventure to go hand in hand with your relaxing pool time, there are abundant activities to be considered within this all-inclusive resort – including an opportunity to swim with dolphins at the Dolphin Lagoon, horseback riding along the beach, a golf course, tennis courts, Fern Tree Spa, and a fitness center. There are large pools and water sports on the beach as well as a children’s village with a small pool for them. There is something for everyone within this resort.

Looking for a romantic couple’s getaway? Nancy also had the opportunity to visit Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, which gives off a more intimate, adults-only vibe. The property is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. The majority of rooms and villas have ocean views. The property is family-owned, and is very luxurious, with dining options overlooking the ocean and a spa on-site.

Another great option for a cozy couples’ retreat is Goldeneye, a very private resort where Ian Fleming wrote all of the James Bond books. Goldeneye pays homage to James Bond as well as the many celebrities that have been clientele, with trees that boast tropical fruits planted in honor of the likes of Naomi Campbell and Johnny Depp. This is a wonderful sanctuary consisting of individual cottages, some of which have their private decks and lagoon docks. Goldeneye is also family friendly in its own respect – kids 12 and under stay at no additional charge. The property boasts numerous water sports and an uncrowded, private beach as well as 2 dining options.

Jamaica truly has something for everyone, whether you are looking to bring your extended family together to make memories of a lifetime, or to cozy up with your soulmate as you take in the glorious views of this island destination. Off of the resorts, the island offers zip lining, nature tours, climbing Dunns River Falls and rafting on the Martha Brae River – so if you feel like venturing out of your property, many more escapades await you and your loved ones!
